Channel 4 commission a ‘breakthrough moment’ for indie focusing on criminal programming
Underworld TV, an indie that employs a number of staff who have spent time in prison, believes authentic storytelling can help it capitalise on the boom in crime programming.
The company recently secured its debut PSB project – a Channel 4 co-production with Dragonfly called What Makes A Murderer? – which co-founders Adam Boome and Tony Sales see as a breakthrough moment.
Producer Boome and ex-fraudster Sales launched the company in 2017 to combine the former’s industry experience and the latter’s understanding of, and contacts in, the criminal world.
Underworld TV took a step forward in May, signing an exclusive first-look distribution deal with Banijay, which is helping it to develop its slate and build collaborations with international partners.
